Top 12 Vegan Restaurants in Miami

, ,

Miami’s veg game has stepped up in the last couple of years with many tasty creations that continue to pop. From South Beach to North Miami, vegan and vegetarian restaurants continue to make their way and cater to the new millennium of plant based living. Just thinking about these places is enough to make you drool!

Plant Theory: South Beach

One of South Beach’s newest vegan additions, this place is a safe haven for everything vegan. Offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, desserts, and juices… the list goes on and on. The lunch special will never you leave you hungry and a small sweet snack like the cinnamon roll will hit the spot. Even if you just need a quick snack, the vegan empanadas with a small juice will satisfy your taste buds, your tummy, and your brain.

Dirt: South Beach

A place where a carnivore and a herbivore can eat happily ever after. Also new to South Beach, this ultra modern restaurant offers vegan, paleo, and gluten free menu items to fit anyone’s dietary restrictions. Their main focus is farm to table fine dining at a fast and affordable price. With unique dishes and blends of nutritious ingredients, their menu changes as the season changes, offering you the fresh taste of the farm.

Choices: Upper East Side Miami, Coral Gables, Airport

Choices Cafe has led the vegan-organic way of dining for the last few years in Miami. Recently expanding and adding locations to the Upper East Side and Coconut Grove, this vegan staple restaurant will keep you coming back for more. With fun quirky names like the “Mental Lentil” and the “Chick’n Homie Wrap”, anything you order will have you smiling with the abundance of flavor. Choices promotes plant based food with a Latin flare and educates their customers on how they can make a difference, one meal at a time. Ask they like to say, “We are the sum of our choices”.

Della Bowls: Wynwood

Della Bowls is located in the new hot spot of Wynwood called The Wynwood Yard. The Wynwood Yard offers a combination of food trucks and is also an event space to ‘eat, live, and empower’. Della Bowls is your plant-based option that will leave you craving their delicious meals and smoothies. Offering local ingredients with their garden just behind the truck and food creations by local top chef Julie Frans, this is the perfect outdoor space to grab a quick and healthy lunch or dinner. I enjoyed the Southwest Bowl which included greens, tofu, quinoa, sweet potatoes, sunflower seeds, avocado and a yummy spicy dressing. The Almond Butter Joy was the ultimate cherry on top of my experience. I can’t wait to go back!

Green Gables Cafe: Coral Gables

A family owned and operated business, Green Gables Cafe is an organic and vegan friendly cafe open for breakfast and lunch. A great place for those working in the area or just driving through the neighborhood, stop by this local diner for a yummy home-cooked meal.

Konata’s: North Miami

Konata’s offers Caribbean style vegan cuisine in a small, cozy place in North Miami. A true little gem, my favorite part about this place is the vegan meat. They use Irish Moss (a type of seaweed) as the base of the recipe, which has the taste and texture of meat. The first time I tried it out, I had to ask and make sure I ordered a vegan meal. I was amazed and happy that it wasn’t soy based! The juice menu is also unique and is not something you find at every juice bar. They even have a smoothie made with Irish Moss that is delicious and the vegan patties are spicy and tasty. And if you would like to meet Konata himself and compliment him on his amazing creations, he is in the back preparing your food and you can meet him upon request.

Vegetarian by Hakin: North Miami

I stumbled upon Hakin’s while in the North Miami area about a year ago and haven’t stopped going since. I was taking my one week Real Estate course nearby and I went there for lunch for 6 days straight and tried everything on the menu. And boy, did every meal hit the spot! This is a vegan heaven as Hakin’s creations satisfy your ‘meat flavor’ cravings, from the Ginger Chicken or the BBQ Pulled Ribs to the Philly Cheesesteak. If you’re missing these flavors you grew up with, Hakin has got you covered. He also just opened up a small health food market within the store to browse as you wait for your food.

Manna Life Food

Located in the heart of Downtown Miami, this new gem brings the vegan experience to the center of the city with a latin twist. A mindfully created unique menu sneaks in a superfood with every dish or beverage, such as the spirulina chimichurri dressing. Who would have thought to throw that in? You don’t even notice the spirulina because it tastes so yummy! They even have a healthy arepa menu, which is a latin customary street food turned healthy vegan. The friendly staff (or even the owner) will guide you towards your selection for the ultimate experience.

Books & Books – South Beach

Books and Books Cafe, located on Lincoln Road in South Beach, offers one of the healthiest menus on the strip. On the menu you will find a ‘green leaf’ for vegetarian friendly plates and GF for the gluten free options. But if you’re strictly vegan, they took the extra step to offer you a Vegan Section which features delicious creations. One of my favorite dishes is the Organic Quinoa with Red Bean Kale which is power packed with protein and healthy carbs. Don’t forget to stop by the bookstore inside and check out their selection!

Apple A Day – South Beach

As they say, an “apple a day keeps the doctor away” and that’s what this place does. Apple A Day offers an abundance of healthy options such as juices, smoothies, and meal options for any craving you may have. You can custom design your own dish or order from the suggested items on the menu. You can even make your wrap gluten free and add Daiya cheese for those gluten free vegans. They also have amazing Acai bowls for those hot summer days, which is the best alternative to regular ice cream!

Ice Box– South Beach

Ice Box Cafe went from 0 to 100 real quick once Oprah talked about their fabulous desserts. And while they are delicious, they also have a great seasonal menu to offer with quality ingredients and delicious flavors. From their starters to their main entrees and everything in between, they have a vegan option for you in every section of their menu. A few of my favorites are the Avocado Seed Salad, Cilantro Rice, and Falafel Wrap. Ice Box Cafe will give you the healthy fine dining experience you have been looking for.

Carrot Express– South Beach

In a hurry on South Beach and need a healthy place to eat? Carrot Express will get you in and out in no time, all while feeding you healthy, nourishing food. Living up to their name, Carrot Express has an extensive menu with vegan and non-vegan options. And when I say extensive menu, I really mean a long list of options, from vegan burgers to vegan wraps and everything in between. One of my favorite juices to get is the B-52, since I love the idea of drinking a healthy juice that is normally considered a very intoxicating shot at the bar.
